A note from the Director – Kim Dickinson

Hello, Region 15,

I wanted to take a minute and say hello to everyone and provide you with my contact information as your new Region 15 Director.  Your Board of Directors for 2018 are myself, Donnie Bullock as Vice Director, Jan Birk as Past Director, Elizabeth Humphries as Secretary, and Robin Lohnes as Treasurer.
I’m very excited to work with all of you and am looking forward to a successful 2018!
The Show Committee and I are already hard at work getting everything lined up for our Region 15 Show. We have the main ring and dressage judges already and 1/2 of the Sport Horse judges – so they will all be announced soon!
The 2018 Markel Insurance renewal forms have been sent to the clubs who participate.  Please return those as soon as you can so I can submit them promptly.  I’m waiting for information on how they will invoice us – I think it will be easier for Region 15 to pay the invoice and then have the clubs reimburse us for their half.
I’ve set up this email address in an attempt to keep all of my Region 15 emails in one place and I’m working on set up mailing lists for club presidents, club delegates, and hopefully start a Regional newsletter/email that you can forward to your club members. I’d appreciate if everyone would make sure I have your preferred email and a good phone number for you so I can contact you quickly if necessary.
I’ll be posting as much information as possible on our R15 Facebook page so if you would put that out at your meetings our members can keep up to date on things.  Elizabeth has taken over our R15 website and will begin updating it for 2018 a beyond.  Once it is established, and we know what all it can do, we can begin using it more effectively as well.  We no longer mail out the Prize List so please let everyone know to check the website and Facebook for a copy and all of the show updates.  We hope to announce some exciting changes this year and the word really needs to get out there so we can grow the show numbers.  If you know people who have attended in the past and have missed the past few years Please reach out to them and invite them back.  Sometimes just a personal call makes a big difference – If each of us does just a little bit it will really help!
If you are a trainer, breeder, stallion owner, or exhibitor and would like to advertise on the Prize list and Show Program – please let us know.  If each club would consider at least a class sponsorship it would be greatly appreciated – and we always need good volunteers – please contact me and the show committee members with your suggestions and input to make Region 15 a “must attend” event.
The forwarded email below is a free resource available to us each month from AHA to get the word out about our upcoming activities – shows, clinics, trail rides, awards banquets, etc.  Please take a few minutes each month and forward your clubs activities to Michelle at AHA so more people can be aware.  Even if the events are several months out we can have the same information for months in a row – so I would encourage everyone to take advantage of this free Eblast.
The next Regional meeting is scheduled for the 18th of March in Leesburg, VA.  Andrea has graciously offered to help us find a meeting location at a hotel or restaurant with a meeting room – I’ll update you as soon as we have an address.
